Google wants to reach into your wallet, pay the restaurant check for you

Since it already runs your email, your calendar, and your bar bet-settling searches for the year of Billy Ocean's "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car", Google has decided it's ready to control one more aspect of your life: splitting resto checks. Six Google minions have filed a legit patent, which just went public this week, for a "computer-implemented" system that settles your bill.Based on the patent application, the catchily named Tracking and Managing Group Expenditures would basically be an app that tracks your crew's spending and then allows individual members to settle their debts by transferring money between accounts. And there's a whole lot more to the lengthy application than that, including a 5th grade math word problem about four friends on vacation in Miami, and how the app would help them settle the bill. Spoiler alert: it's boring! There's no word yet on the patent's chances or status, so sit tight in that TGI Fridays booth with your buddies while the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office deliberates.
