The KFC Fire Double Down Is Literally Red Hot

Korea is already outclassing America with its multi-level pizza boxes, and now there's another line to chalk up on their side of the board: KFC Korea has just introduced the newest iteration of the Double Down -- the Fire Double Maxx (the two x's mean it's EXTREME). This chicken-bunned creation features two SUPREMELY spicy fried chicken filets, tomato, cheese, and a spicy chili sauce. And we're pretty jealous.

The red-hot chicken filets are, literally, both red and hot, owing to a dusting of the chain's signature "Fire" spice powder, which can also be seen on two other menu items (a "Fire" chicken sandwich and a bucket of "Fire" chicken). They're pretty reminiscent of Nashville hot chicken, as Grub Street has noted, and might be worth a DIY attempt if you can get your hands on some Hattie B's.

Whatever you do, though, don't wipe away the tears of joy that will undoubtedly be streaming down your face as you eat this sandwich. It could be an original recipe... for disaster.
