During your grand travels through Europe, you probably stayed at a lot of hostels. And at those hostels, you probably encountered everything from smelly Rastafarians to Australians. But did you ever bump into a seriously vintage McDonald's cheeseburger? You can now at Bus Hostel Reykjavik, which is displaying the last McDonald's burger and fries ever sold in Iceland.
McDonald's left Iceland back in 2009, after the country experienced a nasty economic crash. All stores closed on October 31st of that year, but a local named Hjörtur Smárason bought a burger the day prior, storing it in his garage for posterity. It's been in Iceland's national museum for the past year, and now Bus Hostel Reykjavik is showing it off. You can spy it yourself via the hostel's live stream, which'll be up for the foreseeable future. No word yet on the precautions they've taken against the Hamburglar, but we have to assume that glass lid is rigged with at least three deafening alarms.
