McDonald's Australia is now offering gourmet, customizable burgers

Their animals may be terrifying, but Australia's got one thing that America can be jealous of: McDonald's locations all over Down Under are rolling out a new gourmet burger menu, and you can customize your toppings using a "Create Your Taste" touchscreen kiosk. Or up at the counter via an actual employee. But touchscreens are cool!

After you've picked all the necessary accoutrements, your server will bring your burger to you on a wooden tray with a metal basket full of fries. Yeah. This ain't Macca's like you know it (that's what they call McDonald's down there).

Customers looking for a more upscale burger experience no longer have to look further than their local McD's franchise, where they can choose from 19 different ingredients (from brioche and "crunch" buns, to Colby Jack and Swiss cheese, to guacamole, grilled pineapple, mushrooms, bacon, and many more).

The plan is to eventually roll this out to every location in Australia, and -- just like Crocodile Dundee -- maybe it'll make its way stateside.
