Think you can go an entire meal without Instagramming your food? What about checking in on Foursquare? Or compulsively Googling yourself? Well, one restaurant in Sioux City, IA is offering diners a 10% discount if they're able to throw their phone in a bin and refrain from using it for the entire meal. That means no texting descriptions of the food, either.
The offer is only available on Wednesday evenings, but Dave Ferris, the owner of Sneaky's Chicken and institutor of the policy, says that it's been a huge hit with customers and that nearly everyone who has eaten there on a Wednesday has participated, meaning the restaurant is filled with actual conversation instead of the sound of unlocking screens. Sometimes, folks even forget that they left them in the bin and walk out without them. So much for the "digital generation", huh?!
