For a quick refresher on what you're not allowed to do in a car, please consult this scene from Bridesmaids. Except add in "eat a cheeseburger," which is something a man was ticketed for in Cobb County, Georgia just two days ago.
Madison Turner was pulled over on Monday for feasting on a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese while driving. The cop issued him a ticket for violating the state's distracted driving law, which broadly bans any behavior that would distract the driver "from the safe operation of such vehicle." Turner says he was surprised by the ticket, as the officer assured him he wasn't driving erratically or over the speed limit -- and in fact, long-time attorney Tom Salata told 11Alive that he'd never seen anything like it. Local community members are divided over whether Turner deserved a ticket for his snacking, especially since many have clearly snuck a fistful of fries themselves at intersections. (Just check out the 11Alive video for ample evidence.)
Though he's from Alabama, Turner plans to take his ticket to a judge, meaning the cheeseburger could finally get the thrilling courtroom drama it's been denied for too long. Stay tuned to the local Cobb County news for updates.
