Burger buns have already been made out of ramen, peaches, and deep-fried Twinkies. So when will the humble scallion pancake get its turn in the proverbial bun sun? Turns out that time is already upon us, thanks to food blogger/culinary mashup artist Dan Whalen of The Food in my Beard, in which he chronicles the journeys of amazing gastronomical feats from idea to execution (and subsequently to his beard, where they sometimes get stuck). Behold his wonders.
This particular burger's made with a huge scallion pancake as a bun -- but in addition to green onions, he threw some jalapeños in there for extra awesomeness. The beef patty's topped with a fried egg, Sriracha caramelized onions, and sharp cheddar cheese. Yeah. Good luck keeping this burger out of your mind when you reheat your leftover Chinese food later.
