North Dakota Olive Garden Food Critic Finally Reviews McDonald's

Denizens of the Internet (and America) probably remember Marilyn Hagerty bursting onto the national food scene in 2012: when the now-88-year-old Grand Forks, ND food critic penned a charmingly sincere evaluation of the city's newest restaurant, an Olive Garden, her piece was picked up by news outlets all over the country. Now, she's back with yet another long-awaited review -- this time, of the city's four McDonald's locations.

Hagerty's refreshingly unpretentious style is still present. She says of the McDonald's on South Washington Street: "This is one of the several places around the Forks where coffee drinkers gather to exchange the news of the day. They start clearing out mid-morning. Then people with small children trickle in to use the only McDonald's playground left around here." But, occasionally, she's frustrated by their broken coffee machines. UGH, FOOD CRITICS.

Hagerty is no newcomer to the Golden Arches, however -- it's where she enjoys her "secret sin -- a big Mac for $4.39," something she makes a point of doing "every couple of years." And while she seems concerned about the future of the beleaguered chain, we're certainly eager to see what else she has in store.
