Some fun facts: 27K people voted in the finals. 65 countries let their votes be heard. Pennsylvanians were the second highest participants, inexplicably casting nearly 1000 more votes for the San Francisco burger than Californians did. The Deep South universally rallied around Mississippi. And not a single person voted from South Dakota. WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO HURT US, SoDAK?!?!
The effects of Neon Pig’s underdog rise through the bracket are very real: just in the last four days, they’ve sold over 2000 burgers and actually sold out of their burger for the first time in history on Sunday. To commemorate their win, we’re sending them an extremely fancy sign to hang in their window, and starting a slow clap right now.
Thanks to everyone who voted, commented, or sent us theories on hackers overtaking our system to fix the bracket, possibly as part of a larger Ocean’s 11 type scheme. We’ll see you again next year.
