Prepare yourself, because you're about to eat healthy, and like it. Terrifying, yes. But M&V -- opened by two neighborhood folks who just wanted an actually delicious, actually healthy lunch (even though there was presumably an easier way than devoting their entire lives to opening a restaurant) -- is making you-friendly eats created by a chef with a background in holistic medicine and a focus on herbs and spices for flavor instead of, well, bacon. And there's even a blackboard up front that lists off the specific health benefits of all the ingredients. Here're a few dishes and how it's thought they might save your life and/or enhance your memory:The Dish: Chicken Enchiladas with cumin, coriander, Greek yogurt (instead of sour cream), tortillas from Tortilleria Nixtamal, roasted poblanos and jalapeños, and organic free-range chicken.Noted Health Benefits: Cumin enhances your memory, coriander alleviates gout (you know, just in case), and chillies may fight prostate cancer and ulcers. The Dish: African curried tomato soup made with hot madras curry powder (turmeric, cumin, coriander, chipotle peppers, clove, and cardamom) and just a touch of peanut butter.Noted Health Benefits: Clove is a painkiller, turmeric reduces inflammation, and cardamom takes on heartburn. The Dish: Kale salad with pickled onions and chia seeds.Noted Health Benefits: Chia seeds grow your hair super fast.
