Even in quarantine, rest assured that you’re never far from an amazing burger in Philadelphia. While we’re still counting the days until we can hole up in a cozy booth and go to town on our favorite food, there are so many quality burgers still available for takeout and delivery thanks to the amazing bars and restaurants that continue to hustle as the coronavirus pandemic keeps the service industry scrambling. To show your support and keep eating local, even in times of uncertainty, take a look at this fine collection of Philly’s best burgers you can still nosh on from home. From experimental toppings to foie gras finishings to the ultimate in bacon-cheeseburger iterations, this city’s got it all.

Lucky’s Last Chance

Queen Village, Manayunk
The art of the burger at Lucky’s lay in the toppings. Regulars know and love it for the PB&J burger, which is exactly what it sounds like .But the bacon, egg, and cheeseburger is true perfection for a burger dinner -- or breakfast. Regardless of your choice, you are a true rookie if you don’t order it with a side of Main Street tots.

Khyber Pass Pub

Old City
Khyber’s menu gets a lot of inspo from Southern BBQ, and the signature Khyber burger is no exception. Angus beef, bacon, and barbecue make it the ideal comfort food for warm summer days spent avoiding people at all costs. It will almost make you feel like you’re in one of the city’s most classic bars for real. Almost.

Monk’s Cafe

We’re willing to bet that Monk’s is the “first-place-I-go-after-quarantine” dream for a lot of Philadelphians. In the meantime, though, the full menu is still available for carryout. So start deciding now if you’re going for the Brussels bacon and cheddar burger, the Antwerp Shiitake mushroom and truffle burger, or the four other burgers that make it impossible to choose. Also, frites! See the takeout menu here.

Straightforward gastropub fare is the specialty at Hawthornes, and there’s an extra bonus now that PA’s liquor laws have eased up. The Double Patty Backyard Burger gets a boost with a dose of house-smoked remoulade and its too-good Baker Street brioche bun, all the better with a DIY mimosa kit.

Village Whiskey

The Whiskey King burger spares no expense (clocking in at $26), complete with foie gras, applewood bacon, blue cheese, and maple-bourbon glazed cipollini. If you want to spend a little less, the Village burger (and the veggie option) are more than adequate choices, but the Whiskey King is one for the Philly foodie bucket list.

South Philly Taproom is open for takeout during the pandemic, which means you can have the signature SPTR burger all to yourself, made with love and existing as one of the most perfect versions of a bacon cheeseburger you can find out there.

Pub & Kitchen

Graduate Hospital
We all miss people watching on 20th Street under the flowery trees outside Pub & Kitchen, but the farm-to-table restaurant’s super cute takeout window is serving the goods just as well. The P&K Burger is the perfect combo of gruyere, red onion jam, and porcini aioli, while the Smash Burger uses pickle relish and so-called “secret sauce” to mix things up. Falafel and fried chicken “burgers” and available, too.

Johnny Brenda’s

Blast some music and pretend you’re about to see a show when you order the JB Burger to dine at home. The burger comes with prime sirloin patty, is topped with sharp cheddar and sauteed onions, and packs a big punch for just $11.

Hilltown Tavern

Hilltown does classic pub fare very, very well, and while we all wish we could be throwing one back at their patio picnic tables, your living room will have to suffice. For something a little different, try the Swiss burger drizzled in gravy on a Baker Street brioche bun. Plus, you can score takeout craft beer throughout the week.

P’unk Burger

P’unk Burger has 17 burger options you can order right now, and even more house-made shakes up for grabs, too, featuring everything from salted avocado to strawberry to Nutella. For burgers, you can build your own (and choose a different patty if you don’t want beef) or try a house variety.
