Hear that? It’s the sound of whistles, collisions, and Ed Hochuli flexing his biceps (they really do make a sound), because the NFL is back. Choosing a bar for game day can be tough, so we’ve rounded up six that offer food and drink specials that are even more satisfying than a narrowly earned fantasy football victory.

Logan Circle/Foggy Bottom During the offseason, Stoney’s cooked up a pretty sweet deal: The NFL Black Card. Sign up and shell out $30 in person or via email and you’ll receive a black card with an ID number. The card covers your first beer on every NFL game day in 2014 (Sunday, Monday, and Thursday games, plus the playoffs). All cardholders are entered into a drawing to win a FREE Super Bowl party. Regular game day specials include a 20-wing platter for $15 and $10 pitchers of Bud, Bud Light, and Stoney’s Amber (available upstairs only on P St and everywhere on L St).
Chinatown Fifty plasma TVs and table taps should be enough to beckon die-hard fans to Redline, but just for good measure they sweeten the deal with $4 Bud Light, $6 Fireball, and 15% off appetizers like lobster & shrimp beignets, lamb lollipops, Wagyu beef hot dogs, fried calamari, and gator three ways.
14th Street Post up above Pearl Dive on Sundays. The upstairs bar, Black Jack, offers an all-day Sunday happy hour including half-price draft beers, pizzas, Dive burgers, and Addie’s mussels. For those cheering for the home team, note that Black Jack’s Sunday hours follow the Redskins schedule, meaning they open early for 1pm Skins games and toss in 25-cent wings and $1 shooters during the game.
Columbia Heights CoHi’s craft beer experts know what’s up on game day. Pop in for $5 local beers and 25%-off appetizers that go great with pigskin, like five different kinds of nachos (go with pulled pork!), fries with rarebit sauce (that’s beer and cheese for those who are not Welsh), wings, mac and cheese, deviled eggs, quesadillas, sweet potato wedges, crab cakes, and more.
Downtown Enjoy City Tap House’s "Whistle to Whistle Stein" deal: for $10 you get a 20z beer stein full of suds, plus the opportunity to refill it as many times as you desire for $5 happy hour pricing (bar area only). Everyone everywhere knows beer in a stein goes with pretzels, and at City Tap the pretzels come with a smoked Gouda beer cheese dipper for $8. Though not on special, their other game day eats are great -- like 10-spice wings, hushpuppies, tacos, ribs, pizza, Philly cheesesteaks, and more.
Multiple Locations You’re not going here to watch the game. You are going here for something epic that happens every NFL season. The gourmet burger chain, BGR, challenges you to try the ultimate game day snack: a 9lb burger topped with two heads of lettuce, eight tomatoes, three red onions, four pickles, and nearly a bucket of sauce. It costs $99 and can feed 15-20 people. Give them 48hrs notice if you want one, or keep your eyes peeled on social media for chances to win one throughout the season.
