The Weekend Playbook: So. Much. Music. Plus, beer for dinner.

The Big Ketch Oysters

Event of the Week This Thursday, the crew at Creative Loafing's got Killer Mike and a bunch of Atlanta's other best stuff (complimentary eats from your favorite local spots, art installations from Living Walls, WonderRoot & the Atlanta Film Festival, etc.) all in Centennial Park. Tickets are only $15 so, as Mike would say, "Get 'Em Shawty"! Thursday, September 19th If you’re feeling in more of a Buckhead mood, The Big Ketch is throwing their last patio party of the Summer with 3-for-$3 grilled garlic Parmesan oysters, $4 mango ‘ritas, and $2 Sam Adams. Throw in some live music, and you won’t care that you still have one more day of work left. Friday, September 20th You say: "Oh Sherry, hold on... do we really have to go see Journey?" And your girlfriend will say, "Yes!" ...Which is why your heading to Music Midtown's massive two-day concert in Piedmont Park this weekend where, luckily, you can also catch sweet acts like Phoenix, Arctic Monkeys, and Kendrick Lamar. As Steven Perry says, "You should have been gone"... from Music Midtown's first day by the time the after party at The W's Whiskey Park kicks off, with help from Red Bull and hosts Scotty ATL & Stori. ATL’s own Big Boi is doing a solo show at The Masquerade. Expect all of his Speakerboxxx hits, plus plenty of the old-school Outkast stuff that launched the Atlanta hip-hop scene. Saturday, September 21st If you ever wanted the thrill of The Amazing Race without having to haggle with Egyptian taxi drivers, CitySolve's Urban Race is for you. Grab a team and solve clues, search through Atlanta’s neighborhoods, and maybe even win cash if you’re quicker than your competitors. The East Atlanta Village Strut is a celebration of everything that makes this 'hood weird. The spectacle parade goes down at 2p, but there are also local artists, bands, and, of course, eat/drink options from the restaurants that help give East Atlanta its... um, unusual identity. Next Week On Wednesday, Sept 25th, Brunswick’s Norcross and Wild Heaven are throwing a beer dinner in the bowling alley's Tavern '45. You get an hour of bowling, passed apps, and four suds-assisted courses for $35.
