5 Denver must-dos for Halloween weekend
Event of the Week
It’s that time of year to figure out an ironically sexy costume and get to the Nightmare on Lodo Street Halloween Pub Crawl on Friday. Starting at the Tilted Kilt, crawlers will go from place to place competing in costume contests, enjoying drink specials, and hopefully getting to the last pub (The Pour House) with the same number of sexy Waldos you started with.
Thursday, October 30th: On Hallow’s Eve, show up to the ViewHouse in Centennial for some pre-Halloween festivities. The Centennial location’s first Halloween event since opening this year, Witches Brew, has the makings for the biggest collection of costumed guests ever -- mostly because the place is huge, but mainly because attendees will be competing for grand prizes and drinking Bacardi Rum specials that will make one's pirate costume all the more fitting.
Friday, October 31st: If you’ve never drank wine out of a can, or you have and know how awesome it is, get to Infinite Monkey Theorem’s re-launching party of their four different canned wines. The event, Halloween Night: See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Drink No Evil, will take place at their Wine Lab in Rino with delicious food by Roaming Bull Brasserie and ear pleasing music provided by DJ Ivy and Ejay.
Saturday, November 1st: This day marks the start of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, which does not refer to the amount of hungover folks that will be roaming from the prior night's festivities, but to the Mexican holiday celebrating loved ones passed. This year at the Denver Botanical Gardens, the celebration will be in the form of Calavera Ball: Viva la Muerte! Events will be centered around traditional celebrations seen during Dia de los Muertos, and there will be a cocktail party kicking off at 6:30pm.
Sunday, November 2nd: If you didn’t "monkey around" enough this weekend, the Denver Gorilla Run is your last chance. The 5K jaunt around City Park includes contests for most creative gorilla costume, obstacle courses for the little gorillas, and an after party sponsored by Silver Back Pale Ale (who else?). The entire event helps raise funds for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Do it for them!
