Detroit Event of the Week Hart Plaza’s going to be sounding and smelling good this weekend with the Ribs and RnB Music Festival. They’ll be grilling and jamming from Friday evening to Sunday night, so you’ll have plenty of time to get in on the action. Friday, August 8th: This year’s Godzilla reboot was alright, but there’s nothing like the original. The Detroit Film Theater thinks so too (probably), which is why they’re screening Ishiro Honda’s original Godzilla at Stony Creek Metropark at 8:45pm.
Saturday, August 9th: Summer is far from over, and you can celebrate that fact by enjoying some kayaking and SUP boarding at the OABI (Once Around Belle Isle) Beach Fest on Belle Isle. Experienced paddlers can also participate in the 7mi race around the Island (hence the name).
Saturday, August 9th: As Nacho Libre once said, “Get that corn out of my face!” But seriously, there’s going to be a lot of corn as the Royal Oak Farmers Market hosts its Corn Roast & Country Fair, where there will be a corn-eating contest, a pie-eating contest, and cool, hand-squeezed lemonade.
