Your Detroit Cinco de Mayo guide

Detroit Event of the Week
Obviously you're going to hit Mexicantown Sunday for the parade (and to indulge in a comically large amount of tacos), but you could also consider the concurrent 5K Fun Run/Walk, if only to increase your capacity for more tacos.

Friday, May 2nd: Get an early jump on the celebrating at Tequila Blue at 8pm for their Dos de Mayo party, which’ll include $3 beers and tequila shots, $4 margaritas, dueling pianos, and, thanks to the combination of all of the above, probably some pretty awful singing. Continue Reading

Saturday, May 3rd: Imperial is throwing its first annual Ooh La La Lucha party, promising "tequila, gams, and body slams". Translated, that means there’ll be lucha libre wrestling, burlesque, and, well, the tequila is pretty self explanatory. Get the details here

Sunday, May 4th: Alley Taco is throwing a Cinco de Cuatro (wait does that make sense?) at Motor City Wine that promises (naturally) tacos and wine, along with, if you’re lucky, a piñata. Pro-tip: attack any piñatas before you attack the wine.

Monday, May 5th: By the time Monday evening has rolled around, you will have consumed so many tacos that nothing will sound better than a little bike ride around town with Slow Roll’s cleverly titled "El Slow Roll". Of course, you’ll want to have a beer or two when you’re done riding, just out of general principle. Be at Saint Andrews Hall with your bike about 6:30pm.
