Pride parties, rare beers, and the Grand Prix
Event of the Week
Pride Week culminates with the biggest, wildest street party around. Head to Montrose to celebrate equality at the Houston Pride Festival and Parade. The revelry starts with the festival near Westheimer Rd and Yoakum Blvd at 1pm, while the massive parade, which takes place on Westheimer between Dunlavy and Montrose, takes over at 8:15pm. Keep the festivities going at the official after-party at South Beach.
Friday, June 27th-Sunday, June 29th: Like fast cars and cold booze? Get over to NRG Park, where the Grand Prix of Houston will be revving up all weekend long. General admission is just $10 on Friday and $25 on Saturday and Sunday. And if souped-up rides are really your jam, you can get all three days for $40. See the entire race schedule here. Friday, June 27th: Nothing is sexier than being able to make good food. Switch up date night by trying out a couples cooking class at Brennan’s. The crash course on Spanish-Creole flavors will feature chorizo and crawfish empanadas, a seafood bouillabaisse, and a peach-churro-waffle affair that we kind of want to eat right now. Oh, and wine pairings, obviously. Tickets are $150 per couple.
Saturday, June 28th: Only 300 tickets are being sold for the First Annual Houston Firkin Fest, so act now if you want a chance to taste rare beers (served from firkins) from 8th Wonder, Karbach, No Label Brewing Co., and more. A $35 ticket will get you eight 3oz samples, with the option to purchase more on site. The mostly outdoor event starts at 4pm at DeFalco's Home Wine and Beer Supplies.
Sunday, June 29th: This Sunday night, step back into a time where tube socks were cool and skanking didn’t damn well nearly throw your back out. Reel Big Fish will be tearing up the stage at the House of Blues. Doors open at 7pm. Hurry up and get your tickets ($27.58 for general admission) before they “Sell Out". See what we did there?
