Situated in the heart of the city, Overton Park's public lawns, trails, playgrounds, and dog park are all free to enjoy every day of the year. The Old Forest State Natural Area is an ancient ecosystem filled with hundred-year-old trees, plants, and wildlife you can venture through on five miles of paved and unpaved trails. There are free guided hikes on the second Saturday and last Sunday of each month at 10am.
Working out can be expensive and boring, but the RiverFit fitness course at Tom Lee Park on the banks of the river is neither pricey nor mind-numbing. Grab some friends and burn calories on the battle ropes, pull up bars, and sand volleyball courts for free during spring and summer months.
