The 5 best 4th of July events in MSP this weekend

Minneapolis If there’s one thing worth celebrating this weekend, it’s the fact that Kevin Love still plays for the Timberwolves (for now!)... and that our country’s turning 238 tomorrow. So why not spend some time watching fireworks on the river, eating in St. Paul, and hanging with Garrison Keillor?! Yup.

Thursday, July 3rd: 60,000 of your closest friends will be posted-up on the river eating food from the likes of Tot Boss, and watching fireworks tomorrow, but you can get the jump on ‘em tonight and check out of the 122 outdoor movies playing in MSP this Summer, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Starting Thursday, July 3rd: The Taste of Minnesota -- St. Paul’s four-day food and music festival over the July 4th weekend -- is back after a four-year hiatus and promises to be better than ever, thanks to eats from at least 30 local food slingers, a show from Soul Asylum, and the fact that it’s free.

Friday, July 4th: Uncle Sam isn’t the only one celebrating a birthday this weekend: America’s most Minneapolis public radio show, A Prairie Home Companion, is marking its 40th year with three days of presumably folksy music, as well as eats from street vendors like Famous Dave's and El Burrito Mercado.

Friday, July 4th: Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel's Rock & Rockets has live music (Boogie Wonderland, Lost Highway, and Free Fallin', etc.), plus food trucks and the states biggest fireworks display.

All Weekend: Either because they’re the perfect place to watch fireworks on the 4th, or because… um, just because, you should spend at least part of this weekend posted up at one of MSP best outdoor drinking spots. We promise, you’ll (Kevin) Love ‘em.
