Cardi B, the rapper behind inescapable singles like "Bodak Yellow" and "I Like It," had a big year filled with personal and professional milestones, so it makes sense that she would top it all off with a triumphant ride in James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke." The goofy late night segment, which allows performers to sing along to their hits while cracking jokes, is a perfect fit for the Bronx born hip-hop star, who has a history of making waves on talk shows. She didn't disappoint here, flying through her lyrics and calling out the car window at pedestrians.
The only problem? Despite owning a number of luxury vehicles, including a Maybach and a Suburban, Cardi B does not know how to drive a car. (When Corden asked her what's the point of owning the cars, she gamely replied, "to take pictures with it.") Naturally, Corden used the segment as an opportunity to get her behind the wheel in a driving course. It didn't exactly go smoothly -- multiple cones and flags got run over -- but she did it in style.
Still, the best part of the segment was when Cardi B and Corden interrupted a "Mind Body Dance Class" to provide some needed dance pointers to a group of senior citizens. Though the segment did not touch on Cardi B's recent relationship headlines -- it was likely filmed before the latest drama with her estranged husband, Offset of the group Migos -- one old man named Gunter does ask her if she's "looking for a significant other" and she responded with a befuddled, "sure." We wish Cardi B and Gunter the best of luck in 2019.
