Taylor Swift's Old MySpace Proves She Was Once an Emo Teen Just Like Us

In 2016, it can be hard to remember that Taylor Swift was ever a normal girl. But while she may seem like a leggy, belly-buttonless alien sent to conquer the world with her squad of Victoria's Secret models and fold-eared cats, it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, she was just a normal high school earthling, lamenting her teen angst to Tom on MySpace like the rest of us.

Yesterday, Matt Stopera at BuzzFeed put together a post featuring quotes and images allegedly culled from Swift's former MySpace page. While the page itself has been taken down, various Tumblrs continue to document evidence of the blog that was, which turns out to be a goddamn masterpiece of the "Stars, They're Just Like Us" genre. Here's why.

She posted embarrassing photos of herself...

She knew how to take a pre-iPhone selfie...

She wrote emo poetry...

She got "crunk"...

She ran game...

She had no patience for fugly photos of herself...

She loved her #squad...

Thank you, Taylor, for this Tuesday afternoon reminder that even someone with a really embarrassing social media presence can still one day grow up to become a global superstar. I needed this.
