PDX's best Cinco de Mayo events: Short Bus rides, carnival rides, and more

Portland Cinco de Mayo's almost here, and you know what that means! Um... something having to do with Mexico, presumably, and more importantly, drinking! On the waterfront, in a short bus, after a 5K, and at lots more places, the very best of which are in our Weekend Playbook:

Starts Friday, May 2nd: Through Monday, Nob Hill’s Santa Fe Taqueria's got a different thing going down every night, from a cerveza-sponsored photo booth on Friday, to a chili pepper-eating contest on Monday, plus drink specials all weekend. Continue Reading

Saturday, May 3rd: Portland’s official Cinco de Mayo festival kicks off at the waterfront with carnival rides, lucha libre, candy, live mariachi, and more. And by "more", do we mean tequila? Yes!

Saturday, May 3rd: The Portland Short Bus is hosting Kyle’s Thinky Drinky Cinco Tour! Five hours of mobile boozing that starts at The Slammer, and ends... um, somewhere, presumably.

Sunday, May 4th: You could run a 5 or 10K to celebrate the best-ever-Mexican-holiday-not-actually-celebrated-in-Mexico, or you could just show up at the after-party for the craft brews, eats from Pepino's Fresh Mexican Grill, live mariachi music, etc. and pretend you did.

Monday, May 5th: Holocene is throwing a Cinco de Mayo party of their own, with folks like Orquestra Pacifico Tropical and DJ Michael Bruce playing/spinning cumbia, mariachi, and soul.
