Rolling to the racetrack for one glorious day only, the appropriately-named-for-its-setting "Gourmet" Food Truck Fest will showcase over 40 of SoCal's best mobile kitchens, marking their first-ever time at the fairgrounds/ racetrack and the largest truck gathering San Diego has ever seen, ever since Truck Robinson met up with another guy named Truck in Encinitas, who was also a pretty big dude.
Because out-of-towners gotta roll deep, LA and the OC will be most predominantly repped by the likes of the Buttermilk Truck serving up breakfast beauts like the Buttermilk Brick (hash browns, two eggs, biscuit, and chorizo gravy), The Flip Truck doling out “really really good sliders” like the Pacific ahi/ mango/ macadamia-cilantro-coconut sauce'd Kalola, and the Ball Mi with lemongrass pork and Vietnamese pickles from Great Balls On Tires, also the name of a NSFW blog showcasing choice dude parts, and cars. Goodness gracious! Holding it down for SD, soon-to-be Great Food Truck Race-r Devilicious'll be serving up their vaunted poached lobster grilled cheese, and Longboards Vintage Ice Cream's making people scream with flavors like Mango and Cream, even though most critics agree Chris Kattan sounds better remixing Purple Rain.
And because you once owned a t-shirt from a fraternity, they'll also have a 50+ variety beer garden slinging mystery suds, in addition to some retro-cool tunes from Flock of 80's, who surprisingly don't sing songs about how many pro basketball groupies swooned over Truck Robinson back then, though they should.
