Your guide to Comic-Con weekend in San Diego
Event of the Week
Unless you’re a hermit, you know that Comic-Con starts in San Diego today. Actually, even the hermits know that. From Thursday, July 24th to Sunday, July 27th, the city will be taken over by thousands of gamers and superhero aficionados that're ready to party. The list of special events, celebrity appearances, and parties happening this weekend is endless, but even if you didn’t get an official Comic-Con badge this year, you can still make it to can’t-miss events happening all over town:
All Weekend: If you need a little motivation to work out, getting chased by zombies ought to get you running faster than you’ve ever run before. The Walking Dead Escape is going on at Petco Park the 25th and 26th. You can register to be a walker, a survivor, a combination of both, or just go to watch the fun happen.
All Weekend: The Adult Swim Funhouse and the Meatwad Full Dome Experience are returning to Comic-Con this year from the 24th-26th from 3-10pm. Admission is free and tickets are available on a first come, first served basis at the Petco Park parking lot starting at noon each day.
Thursday, July 24th: Want to eat sushi while a hobbit DJs? Well, this is your chance. In town for Comic-Con, Elijah Wood and friend Zach Cowie, aka Wooden Wisdom, will be getting the party going at Bang Bang starting at 9:30pm. In honor of Comic-Con, Bang Bang has also created "The Avenger" sushi roll and a list of Hunger Games-themed cocktails.
Saturday, July 26th: Dress up like your favorite comic book character and taste beers from more than 40 breweries at Hero’s Brew Fest. General admission is from 4-7pm with live music, a caped crusader costume contest, and tons of food. VIP tickets are already sold out, so be sure to get your general admission tickets before they’re gone too.
