The three-day party starts Friday with all-day food and drink specials at 10+ Old Town institutions, continuing from 11am-10pm on Saturday and 11am-6pm on Sunday. Ongoing: If you're anxious to get your Cinco underway, Puesto at The Headquarters is collaborating with San Diego restaurants to create three one-of-a kind tacos for their new Local Thursdays, every Thursday in May. Each restaurant took a dish from their menu and made it into a taco -- like roasted suckling pig with pork crackling and Sherry mustard sugo from CUCINA Urbana, California fish and chips taco with malt vinegar slaw from Herringbone, and Braised lamb with pickled onions and spicy herb remoulade from Sea & Smoke. Local beers will also be half off on Thursdays.
All Weekend: Tavern at the Beach is starting their Cinco celebration on Thursday and partying until Monday with $3 beers and a new menu including the El Choncho -- reposado tequila, pineapple, jalapeño, agave nectar syrup, and fresh lime juice in a Tajín-rimmed glass. Just be careful not to get too carried away.
Sunday, May 4th: It pretty much always feels like Cinco de Mayo inside El Camino, but they're turning things up a notch this year by celebrating a day early, on Star Wars day (May the fourth be with you!). That's right, you can feel the $2 tacos and $5 margaritas flow through you while dressed as your favorite character from the movies. Info here
