Ice-skating at The Washington Harbour Lace up for a spin on what is arguably the area’s best ice rink (because of its close proximity to good eats to warm up with post-skate). Plus, it’s kind of cool to peek at a river as you’re cruising on frozen tundra. Cocktails will be waiting for you at Mama Rouge, Farmers Fishers Bakers, Fiola Mare, and soon, Orange Anchor. The rink’s open seven days a week and admission (plus rentals) will cost you $15.

The Passenger’s Last Hurrah One of DC’s most beloved bars will bid adieu (along with the year 2014) on December 31. At least to its current location. Gather with friends over drinks one last time and recount all of your stories. A $20 door fee gets you into The Passenger’s New Year’s Eve blowout with DJs, dancing, a Champagne toast, and snacks. We reckon they’ll want booze to fly off the shelf, so it should be a good time. Party starts at 9pm.

New Year’s Eve in DC New Year’s Eve options abound in DC, making the decision of where to party as difficult as choosing a favorite Ninja Turtle. Beer lovers should head to Bluejacket, where a $99 ticket gets you access to an open bar with all 25 Bluejacket drafts and casks (plus wine, spirits, and snacks). Foodies should zero in on a NYE Shaw crawl put together by Derek Brown, which includes Mockingbird Hill, Eat the Rich, and Southern Efficiency. Or, if you really can’t stick to one bar, opt for this: Crawl Til The Ball Falls
