Chilam Bilam gets a sibling

No longer simply just your World of Warcraft go-to for nature and elemental magics, Shaman's a new outpost from the Chilam Balam folks bringing their brand of Mexican-influenced small plates southward to a funky dive sporting an orange glow courtesy of everything from the paint job to the fluorescent lighting left over from their bakery predecessors. Though there are a few CB holdovers, the menu's largely populated with new shareable creations like this Jenga-esque tower of honey bbq pork ribs with tomatillo pico di gallo that's drizzled with crema and sprinkled with housemade queso fresco. If you're in more of an avian mood, their pan-seared quail with spaghetti squash and green grape pico swims temptingly in a broth flavored with bacon and pickled morita chiles, which bring both flavor and frequent Mr. Miyagi references. Like their sister spot, Shaman's BYOB (and stocking housemade virgin sangria and limeade for your spiking pleasure), but they DID manage to sneak a little hooch into the Kahlua ice cream nestled against this gingerbread tres leches cake with blackstrap whipped cream, a bit of culinary shamanism anyone can appreciate.
