For the first time ever, the dudes behind the ultra-lauded Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival are descending on The Angeleses, with tickets just on sale now for a three-day orgy of events from crazy-famous (and crazy/famous) chefs and wineries, spread out between four of LA's most epicurean destinations: Downtown, Santa Monica, Hollywood, and
Palmdale, of course!! Beverly Hills. Among the highlights:
Pigs, Pins & Pinot @ Lucky Strike: Downtown's fancified bowling alley hosts this event, which boasts glasses of reds, plus plates & plates of pork from as-seen-on-TV chefs like Chris Cosentino and Todd English, as well as a piggish desert from the chef at Chicago's HotChocolate, also the name of a rating site in which Louie Anderson decides which candy bars he's most sexually attracted to.
Dan Dunn's Booze, Blues & BBQ: A dude who writes about getting sloshed for a living helps the cause w/ a drink-it-as-he-makes-it mixology demo, plus you'll get to smash 'cue from the guys behind Baby Blues -- exactly what you'll have if too much of Dan Dunn's booze leads to poor, morally casual decisions.
Heat -- LA's Spiciest Afterparty: A late-night rager w/ seven
dwarfs chefs from NY and LA all making extra-hot grub, as well as a live after-hours performance.
Brew B'Que: An all-inclusive on-the-pier tasting w/ 100 TBA beers, live music, and vittles from the chefs behind Kogi, Father's Office, The Hitching Post II, and the Playboy Mansion, which, 'til recently, Hef called "The Hitching Post III".
Dish-details for all the above are still intensely top-secret, though an insider
we kidnapped then tickle-tortured claims there's also a clambake with Tom Colicchio and a tribute to Daniel Boulud, as well as a two-day smorgasbord with hundreds of wineries and dishes from all the participating chefs happening at LA Live -- infinitely better than their original plan to hold it at Palmdale Dead.
