If there's one thing that's true about online naming contests, it's that if the public got what they wanted, FartKnockerz69 would be a nationwide falafel chain by now. Recklessly letting them name their spot anyway, Go Burger.
Finally opening today, Go Burger's essentially a differently named West Coast location for Vegas/NYC gastropub fave BLT Burger, w/ oak/walnut paneling, massive banquettes, and an airy patio, all under a name picked by the not-necessarily-creative winner of an Internet contest who's clearly never faced down nine time-melting-minutes at the light on Wilshire and San Vicente. Grubwise, the place is obviously all about
paninis burgers, with signature beefiness including the brisket/ short rib/ sirloin blended Prime Steakhouse, the UtiliMelt (essentially a traditional patty melt, w/ two grilled cheese sandwiches as buns), and the griddled onion/ pepper/ pickled jalapeno/ provolone Smashed Philly, which comes with an annoying tendency to bring every convo back to Michael Vick, Rocky, or Ed Rendell. If you're not feeling particularly burgery, they've also got a fried chicken number w/ chipotle ranch, avocado, bacon, and red onion, tempura-battered fish & chips, and the spicy German mustard-topped "Kobe Dog", also Xzibit's answer when you ask him who the most likable player on the Lakers not named Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, Shannon Brown, Luke Walton, Ron Artest, or Joe Smith (yes, that Joe Smith!) is.
They've also got sides like duck fat fries and waffle bites, as well as a booze menu that spans from microbrews like Ithaca Nut Brown, to classic cocktails like the Brown Derby, to spiked milkshakes including the Kahlua-laden Night Rider, which obviously wasn't named via an online contest, as that would've been a total hassle(hoff).
