Movie theater food has barely changed over the years, thanks to timeless staples like popcorn, huge boxes of Sour Patch Kids, and how ever many Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers you can fit into the pockets of your Pajama Jeans. Feeding you oh so much more: Cinema Cafe, now open in Coral Gables.
Realizing that pretty much everyone’s tried "really crappy nachos" by this point, the (highly approachable!) indie-/foreign flick-screening Art Cinema tapped its resto neighbors to hook people who enjoy the French-language version of Zookeeper up with seriously delicious pre-, during-, and post-screening comestibles. They plan to add more restos as they go along, but initial counter-order, take-to-your-seat eats include Chocolate Fashion treats like chocolate walnut cookies, hand-churned espresso ice cream, signature cinnamon-infused/ jam-stuffed linzer torts, and mini quiches like the gruyère-coated Lorraine, who will eventually make out with you outside the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance, but only if you’re her son. CC’ll also be rotating in rolls from Sushi Maki, as well as dishing Green Gables Cafe's organic mango curry chicken breast, and tuna salad; while boozeless for now, that’ll change in the next couple months when they add beer & wine, meaning Lorianne will still have to swipe her flask of whiskey from "the old lady’s liquor cabinet".
Within the next couple weeks, they’ll be adding an expansive outdoor seating area in the plaza, where you can hang out before/after flicks like Project Nim, which "follows a chimpanzee on his extraordinary journey through human society, where the humans often seem stranger than he ever could", although only because monkeys hate wearing Pajama Jeans.
