The Ave C cocktail fave's doing pulled bacon sandos for lunch

The cocktail sanctuary is expanding, which means a bigger kitchen and beyond-piano live music. Hurray! And no offense, piano guy! It'll also allow the owners to unleash a concept they'd been planning before the 'Land even opened: a gourmet sandwich shop popping up exclusively on weekdays from 12-5p, and dubbed Animals after the Pink Floyd album, because nobody wants to eat at a sandwich shop called "Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980–81". Taking over the next-door space means a way-expanded kitchen, which means new nighttime dishes like a tomato-based fish stew and a whole roasted chicken. But it also means that starting at noon, they'll pump some good old fashioned rock 'n roll as the cocktails are subbed out for beers while they craft 8-10 beautiful sandwiches the Earl of Sandwich is on record as calling "much better than anything I ever fake-invented". Those'll include a baguette stuffed to the gills w/ braised Italian sausage, peppadews & fennel; an actually delicious vegan number w/ roasted curry cauliflower, walnut pate, pickled onions & sriracha cauliflower "mayo"; and a bacon torta w/ refried beans, pickled jalapenos & chipotle sauce atop thick-ass, apple cider-/bourbon-braised, applewood-smoked bacon that's been "pulled like pork", so ensure you don't have A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and just get there and order one.
