A worth-the-wait Asian joint finally opens on Chestnut

In the planning stages for longer than most restaurants stay open, 2yrs-in-the-making Jane G's is a new Asian-otoreum from long-gone Noodle Haven's eponymous lady, who's turned an old Rittenhouse DVD rental store into a blockbuster (!) 80-eater-seating restaurant shrouded in contemporary elegance

Peep these pics and note the dark-stained bamboo floors, and the tiny-tiled divider between the underlit raw & cocktail bars and the dining room, which's full of geometric white leather chairs, dragon-rimmed booths & tightly tufted banquettes, aka the long-rumored dance troupe headlined by Hilary, Carlton & Ashley. Food-wise, you're starting with crab- & curry-chicken-stuffed puff pastries and duck & pine nut dumplings; moving through a quintet of rices (mango basil fried w/ shrimp) & pastas (oxtail pappardelle); and ending on mains of lemongrass shrimp, grilled salmon in green curry, and grilled medallions of monkfish that'll surely make you go "(O)mmmm"

Hitting up the first of the aforementioned bars gets you Otter Cove & Blue Point oysters on the half shell and steamed & chilled lobsters, while visiting the second brings you 18 bottled brews (including Japanese/Chinese standbys), and nine semi-Asian 'tails like the Green Shimmer (green tea & vodka) and the Kai Coco-lychee-mint Zen, a drink that sounds like it's straight outta Hollywood, and not the Video one.
