Gourmet pizza and craft cocktails in the Gaslamp

The crew behind Brick+Mortar first tasted success with their New American tavern concept in Santa Monica before eyeing the former Merk space on a recent episode of Hotel Hell and thinking, “you know, that kitchen looks like the perfect place for our chef to faint!”. To wit: they definitely made said substantially bricked digs their second location, with plans to add even more brick (!) and turn the upstairs into a speakeasy-esque bar. But for now, they're content to simply wow you with:

Brunch: Enjoy the meal that barely won the popular vote over "leakfast" by gobbling up tweaked classics like pork belly confit eggs benedict, and citrus-/ salt-brined fried chicken and waffles with cayenne butter & honeycomb

Plates: Once you've downed leakfast (it's spreading!), get in with later crowds to check out tuna tartare served with spicy tuna tempura and avocado yuzu, and their insane-sounding house burger stacked with tobacco onions, aged cheddar, bacon, and a BBQ jam.

Pizza: While Michelangelo’s shell-tered teenage mutant palate could never handle it, yours will be amped to take down all-star 'za combos like short ribs, blue cheese & arugula, or mozzarella, yogurt raita, and murgh makhani chicken.

Cocktails: As they work on fancying up the upstairs digs, they'll keep livers contented with over 50 wines, plus an eight-strong craft cocktail list with gems like the Alipus Mezcal/ strawberry/ lime/ rosemary “SD Kush”, which's not for the faint of heart.
