The freshest seafood in all of La Jolla

When San Diegans think of Arizona, they immediately try and stop, mostly because it just makes them feel guilty about living in San Diego. For a resto that no longer wanted people to feel sorry it was based in AZ, check out Eddie V's.

Gracefully plopping their sixth location in The Jewel's former Chart House digs, Eddie V's an upscale surf 'n turf joint split into dual, slightly offset floors, with a wine rack-lined hallway, two decks providing ocean views, and a bar on each level including one upstairs at the “V Lounge”, where they'll rock nightly entertainment, though yours is normally just searching for V. The menu kicks off with a selection of sea offerings like the “Bloody Mary” jumbo Gulf shrimp cocktail, Maine lobster tacos with sweet corn pico, or charred steak carpaccio with thinly sliced horseradish and capers, which can't be the Great Muppet kind since those puppies are Gonzo. Mains include seafood plates like the citrus/ almond/ brown butter sauteed North Atlantic scallops, while the land grazers are rep'd by premium Black Angus steaks which can be done up "Oscar Style" with asparagus, hollandaise, and Jonah crab, which makes sense considering that newly svelte dude must always be hungry.

Both bars are loaded with a full complement, while their hefty 100+ bottle wine list has won the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator, which Arizonians are totally content to be, since, to actually make wine, they need to come back to Cali.
