Not actually a book where 3D cutouts of Cade McNown and Cameron Dollar vault off the pages as you turn 'em, The WestWood Popup's instead a new, more-permanent-than-it-sounds eatery from the staff behind Criolla Kitchen, posting up five days a week in the Mission's old B3 space, and serving the two most important meals in a San Franciscan’s life
Beer-Filled Dinner: And not just any beer-filled dinner -- this Mission market-driven one'll include 13 drafts (Speakeasy Prohibition, Firestone Double Barrel, Bear Republic Racer...) served alongside starters like bacon-wrapped, goat cheese-filled dates covered in a stout beer gastrique, and deviled eggs topped with jalapeno relish (!) & pork cracklings (!!). They'll also do after-the-starters awesome like a Marin Sun Farms burger (w/ caramelized onions, horseradish aioli, and bacon), and 8hr-braised pork belly w/ burnt tangerine-grapefruit juice & brandy -- an offering so delicious you'll have to order mo'...esha
Boozy Brunch: And not just any boozy brunch (!) -- this pork-heavy Sat-Sun morning (okay, afternoon) menu has shareables like those fried pig's ears topped with tapatio aioli, huevo-require-ers like the aforementioned 9hr pulled pork eggs benedict (w/ pimenton hollandaise), and the farm egg scramble with chorizo sausage, queso fresco & green onion fries. There're also must-order bread-centered plates including cream cheese-stuffed French toast (w/ strawberries & powdered sugar), and the Texas Toast Monte Cristo (country ham, gruyere, farm egg batter) -- both of which can be washed down with pitchers (yes, pitchers) of mimosas or “Low Gravity” Bloody Marys, so named because of the low center of gravity required to stand up after all of this
Though the favorites are going to stay on the menu, because of the extremely local sourcing, TWP is going to have a weekly changing lineup, meaning you'll have to actually stop by to see what's Bruin.
