When faced with something labeled as fusion, the first thing that invariably comes to mind is "why in the hell didn't I get an Explorer instead", or at least, like, a Focus? For a place doing fusion you can actually be seen in, Splash Lounge.
Opened in the recently closed V-Bar digs, and chef'd by a dude who's cooked on multiple continents (though sadly not Antarctica), this fully boozed spot's serving up inventive east-meets-west eats in a black/white dining space winding around a curving LED-lit bar, and fronted by a lounge fitted with low-slung leather couches. Comestibles mean small plates (the apple bacon/ fried garlic/ citrus Batayaki Scallops, a spicy Italian sausage Fire Cracker egg roll w/ Dijon dip, etc.), and mains like Orange Splashed Scallops served in an edible bowl w/ wasabi mashed potatoes, and a Tender Kabob made with garlic-dipped beef, but not Dipset beef, as thankfully people have stopped caring about Jim Jones altogether. Liquid menu options range from the Lusty Lychee w/ said fruit-infused sake & bourbon, to the gin/ green chartreuse/ ginger beer Ginger Strap, which Jim Jones carries in lieu of a real gun, because he's not tough, and loves delicious cookies.
Splash does both late and happy hours, boasting $6 'tails (the rum/ agave Oba Mojito, the Blue Haka w/ vodka, elderflower & blueberries), and bar eats like Katsu Bites, Jalapeno Poppers, and Spicy Wings, something that countless street racers have proved only makes their Ford Focuses look worse.
