To lay hands on the noble, enigmatic lion, adventurers will travel thousands of miles, or sometimes just a few feet to their cabinet, for that DVD of Haley Joel Osment's Secondhand Lions they hopefully bought secondhand. Now, let your quest for lion take you on a road trip, to Tucson's Boca Tacos y Tequila.
A while back, BTyT's owner started an insane taco program that had him wrapping tortillas around everything from alpaca to python to turtles to Rocky Mountain oysters; he says he decided to add lion to the mix not to court controversy, but because they became available, and're in keeping with the exotic theme -- so clearly, Chippendales dancers should not come to Tucson. The meat -- which he hasn't actually tried yet, so he'll be as surprised as you -- is legally harvested from farm-raised kings-of-beast, and'll be served as tacos or by itself, using a secret house recipe his wife's developing, which'll hopefully be incredibly spicy, and called The Ghost Pepper and the Darkness. He's planning to unveil the big-cat special on February 16th, but you can pre-order your portion right now by calling the restaurant; there might be protests raging out on the street, but inside, everything will be Simba-tico
As for where he orders the meat from, he wouldn't say, other than that it's a farm in California, but thanks to the miracle of the Internet, it can be pretty certain that it's the outfit in the link below; though if you don't head to AZ, you'll miss Jared Dudley coming in expecting his bill to get picked up, and Haley Joel telling him to "Pay it, forward".
