While not exactly a dance town, DC's long accepted new forms, whether it's Bush awkwardly two-stepping with African dignitaries, or Clinton awkwardly sidestepping when asked about his definition of "sexual relations". Continuing that tradition with mesmerizing belly dancers: AdMo's new Marrakech.
Armed with weekly belly dancing shows and a small plates menu designed by a former St. Regis chef, Marrakech is a two-story Moroccan lounge (with black leather couches and a glass DJ booth) which is in fact not related to downtown's long-running belly dance resto Marrakesh...but whatever, that place stole the whole concept and name from the actual Moroccan city anyway. Signature drinks play off other Morrocan cities, and include The Tangier Tiger with vodka/ spiced rum/ ginger ale, and the Cognac/ Sprite/ Hpnotiq/ sour mix Meknes Monster -- though have too much, and just like its Scottish namesake, you'll desperately want to avoid being photographed. Food goes until 2a on the weekends, and runs from a strip steak w/ tamarind sauce & roasted eggplant, to stuffed pastry served w/ turmeric & cumin sauce, to a vanilla-poached tuna w/ sweet onion, garlic, and grilled lemon, or, basically what Alec Baldwin did to her every episode.
If you're still hungry, they've got desserts like baklava, chocolate cake w/ stout beurre blanc, and an almond fig tart -- just know what you're getting into, lest you have to later lie about putting it in your mouth.
