Quietly just-opened in a former garden shop, DC's newest pork 'n beer stop's fronted by a picnic table-laden mini beer garden, and anchored by a small indoor bar pouring Bavarian liters (from Hofbrau, to Weihenstephaner, to Kostritzer Schwarzbier), which can paired with pulled pork, barbecued brisket, and dogs like a sauerkraut-topped German brat, but not a German Da Brat, as their early '90s rap scene was a tough one for women to break into.

1. Garden District 1801 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 (U Street)

A no frills beer and barbecue joint, Garden District has picnic-style dining and some seriously smokey sandwiches. They have an outdoor beer garden overflowing with German and Bavarian brews that pair perfectly with a rack of ribs, but make sure you get there early since everything is made in-house, they close early when they run out of BBQ.
