Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon
While relatively unknown outside of watch nerd circles, the Swiss-made Vulcain Cricket alarm watch has graced the wrist of more presidents than any other timepiece. It started with Truman, who was gifted a Cricket by the White House News Photographers. Truman’s successor, Dwight Eisenhower, infamously had the alarm of his Cricket go off whilst he was announcing a new tariff on Swiss watches and imports. LBJ both wore one and gifted several with his signature on the dial, and Nixon was known to sport one as well. Keeping alive the tradition, Finnish jewelry store owner Keijo Paajanen has presented a Vulcain Cricket to every sitting president up to Obama.
