The second installment in Will Leather Good's one-of-a-kind bike project, the Oaxacan Bicycle celebrates America's favorite Mexican regional holiday with some south-of-the-border flair. Using a restored 1935 Elgin bicycle as its canvas, the project features heavy uses of tanned vegetable leather and woven colors to bring it from vintage classic to art status.
The bike's woven details come from Oaxacan rugs, made by Zapotec hand-weaving that uses natural elements to dye each color.
Sadly, there's no beverage holder on this art-bike, but better to not drink and ride, even if it is Cinco de Mayo.
The bike will be displayed at the new Will Leather Goods store at its grand opening on May 15th in SoHo.
