Eric Clapton's Pre-Daytona Rolex Is for Sale

We just heard from the fellas over at HODINKEE that Eric Clapton's Rolex will be up for auction this weekend. Now, this would be cool if it were a frankenwatch Air-King with a Japanese Miyota movement that the rock God somehow purchased on the streets of Istanbul, but this is something truly special. The lot in question is an early 1950s Rolex Oyster Chronograph Reference 6034, a pre-Daytona Paul Newman timepiece.

The chronograph is in near-perfect condition, and its rare pink gold hardware gives it a look that's eye-catching as hell. Unfortunately, the auction will be online, so you can't rent a Brioni suitgrab a paddle, and drive up the price just to spite the bastard who gets to walk away with this gem.
