GoPro has always catered to the extreme market, but they may have just redefined their own genre with the new Odyssey 16-camera rig, designed for immersive, 360-degree video. Yep -- that's 16 GoPro Hero4 cameras, in a single device.
The entire rig is 11.6 inches wide, 2.6 inches tall, and weighs 14.5 lbs. In other words, not exactly the kind of camera you'll want to bring to the next family camping trip. Unless you need to capture virtual reality views of your jaunt to Aunt Linda's.
And it's a little hard on the wallet. The whole thing will cost $15,000 when it's released in November, coming equipped with cables, a rugged pelican case "designed to withstand the rigors of professional use," and 16 microSD cards.
The virtual reality video which can only be assembled using Google's Jump assembler, so if you haven't guessed it by now, it's designed for professionals, or at least extremely dedicated hobbyists. If you really want to get your hands on one, you'll have to prove your worth in 50 words or less here.
