Etch Your Story into bone

The Heirloom Scrimshaw Knife Kit allows you to recreate an early American art form that whalers used during slow nights at sea in the 1700s. The idle whalers would scratch nautical-themed drawings into whale teeth and bones using pocket knives or sail needles, then rub the etching with tobacco juice to reveal the image.

This kit comes with everything you need to etch your story into a knife. Alongside three varieties of bone-handled pocket knives, you get a steel point scribe, India ink, a bamboo tracing tool, carbon paper, steel wool, ink applicators, and instructions.

The only thing not included is tobacco juice. You're on your own for that one. If you're in need of inspiration, consult the ocean — just don't drink the water.
