Turn Anything Into A Drum Set

The geniuses (genii!?) over at Korg have just made your dreams come true, releasing a small device that will actually turn anything into a drum set. Instead of using your imagination to pretend the books you're hitting are congas or the table is really one of John Bonham's spare Ludwigs, the Korg Cliphit can feed you the real sounds through your headphones or through a giant speaker system for everyone to hear.

To get down, all you have to do is attach the three clips to random objects—a table, a bowl, a book—and put the pedal on the floor. That can be pedals, if you feel like getting another one to close your hi-hat. Each clip can be set up to play a specific sample, from anything to a snare to a dog bark.

If you don't feel like using headphones or an external speaker, Korg has you covered with a small driver built into the body to share your sound with the general public. Play with your hands, play with your 5As, or play with a pair of chopsticks—it doesn't matter. You have a portable drum set now.
