We Started A Fire With These Flint Shoe Laces

Sometimes you just need to start a fire. You might be trying to survive in the woods after your lighter runs out. You might be ready to light off a ton of fireworks in front of a big crowd and realize you've forgotten your matches. Or a beautiful French girl may have just asked you "Vous avez du feu?" and your Zippo is at large. In all but the last instance, you could solve these problems with RattlerStrap Flintlaces.

At a glance, these are just regular, solid boot laces, available in brown or black. But hidden in the tips are tiny ferro rods ready to give off sparks.

Unfortunately, you have to bust open the laces to get at them, but sometimes a sacrifice is needed in desperate times. After liberating the ferro rod, trim off the outer coating with your knife and rake the rod down with your steel. It takes a bit of practice to get it to work, but we were making big sparks in a few minutes.
