The Cork Travel Mug For The Design Conscious

Cork usually conjures up thoughts of wine, but the liquid-stopping substance is just as well suited to another major vice: coffee. Wrapped in cork, the Cortiça mug takes advantage of the terrific insulation properties of the Quercus suber’s bark (now you know where cork comes from!) to make one the coolest travel mugs ever.

Unlike most mugs, the Cortiça eschews metal and plastic for a more earthy touch of porcelain, but this means the mug may not be for those of you with dropping issues—it’s not exactly impact-resistant. If you were to break it, the mug would spill all 12 ounces of your morning elixir. If wish you could spill more, maybe get more sleep, Travis Bickle.

While the mug is made of bark and clay, the top sadly has to be plastic. But don’t worry, it’s BPA-free and barely visible, recessed into the porcelain.
