This Solar-Powered Fridge is Cooler...Than a Cooler

While there are some very workable coolers for you to buy probably at Walmart, they accomplish their job by having incredible insulation, not by actually doing any cooling. Cheaters. Though this isn't a problem in the testing lab—they can keep ice for days—they're limited in practical use, since you let warm air in each time you open the top to snake an ice cold cruiser. But thanks to the power of crowd-funding, a company is making the Anywhere Fridge, a foldable-portable icebox, powered by...get ready for it...the sun.

During the day, the solar panels power the fridge and charge the battery, making night cooling possible. If there's not enough sun, you can always go the old-fashioned route and plug it into a standard or car outlet.

Available in 30 and 80-quart sizes, the Anywhere fridge is completely collapsible to five inches, and rolls like a suitcase for easy transport, though the smaller, 20-pound version is easily carried.

The Anywhere fridge is designed to be durable and weatherproof, so it can be left by the pool all summer. But we see this being perfect for the back of the adventuremobile or as our companion in the park.
