Named after the "steel-nerved" locomotive operators of the past, the Brakeman is the latest watch from upstart American manufacturer Shinola. The guts are Swiss Quartz and it's assembled in Detroit. Translation? It can take a lickin' and keep on tickin' (while keeping the cost down, at $625). It's PVD coated, too, which means that sexy matte black is more than just skin deep — it's guaranteed not to wear off with age.
