Needlework tends to be embarrassing: either your grandmother made it for you, or you made it in Home Ec to give to your grandmother, who totally shamed you for your amateurish buttonhole barb stitch, and said you weren't worthy of her cookies. For embroidery shaking all that up, check out WhatParty.
Hand-embroidering images of cute story-bookish critters, but jacking them up with edgy adult-only captions, WP's the work of a Jacksonville gal who says "I love embroidering things that make me laugh, and I probably drink too much", also what Rip Torn always says, minus the first part. The goofy animalia kicks off with works including "Weary Elephant", who's looking up a lush tree and saying (presumably with a gangsta drawl) "Man, I ain't trying to eat all these leaves today", and "Clumsy Mountain Goat", showing a goat couple scoffing at another who's fallen to the bottom of a ravine, with the caption "Will you please look at that butthole" -- just thank the lord they're not talking about a goatse. Other works're even more brilliantly nonsensical, like one showing two camels (one with a rainbow parasol) and the caption "You are on my last nerve, son", another displaying two young possums stuck in a clothes bin, with the dialogue "We gotta get the f*** out of this hamper / We gonna die today", and one more with a cute farm scene of a cow, chicken, pig, and horse, and the caption "I smell horsey fart", clearly after one of them over-sauced at Arby's.
She also does custom orders, like one on her blog reading "give me convenience or give me death" and showing a medical diagram of the female anatomy, something you never would've seen if she'd only used the proper closed fly stitch.
